Nutritional Yeast/Brewer’s Yeast

yeasts

Between more people adhering to a plant based diet and the increase in those that are lactose intolerant or lactose sensitive, more people are discovering nutritional yeast. With a nutty cheesy flavor it’s become a staple among vegans. Most commonly found in a natural or health food store, rather than the large box stores and standard grocery stores. Nutritional yeast, also known as nooch, is a deactivated yeast, often a strain of Saccharomyces Cerevisiae. It’s a great source of B-complex vitamins and comes in flakes, granules, or a powder. Vegans use it to replace cheese in recipes for its taste but it may have some health benefits as well. Nutritional yeast can help to lower cholesterol, boost immunity, and reduce inflammation.  It is also one of the only plant sources of B12 and can boast of being a good source of high-quality protein. Having a long shelf life, nooch is…

Workout and Your Mood

excersise

Not sure who “They”  are, but they say that “You’re just one workout away from a good mood”. For many years, I thought I wanted to punch whoever “They” are. But, now I think I may get it. I am not one to workout, but am recently beginning to appreciate walking. I have been walking more than ever before, and it’s affecting me in a positive way. Ok, so I don’t think I’m walking fast enough or long enough for those endorphins to kick in, but with all the hormones raging within me  these days, I can only imagine what I’d be like with the additional hormone just pushing its way in me.  There are benefits of any workout, be it heavy and strenuous or like mine, very low impact and infrequent. Although if you’re just beginning, it’s best to work up to the heavy and strenuous so as not…

The M16 And Vietnam

The M16 is known as the Vietnam gun, and for good reason. Vietnam remains one of the most controversial wars in the history of the United States. What started as an inner conflict between the South and North Vietnamese gradually turned into a full-scale war. American military aid was first given at 1950. That turned into military advisors, which were sent in 1955. Marines and Special Forces were dispatched a little bit later, to aid the South Vietnamese in their training process. The numbers of advisors swelled to many thousands. Air strikes began to take place in 1965, and by 1967 the number of U.S. soldiers in Vietnam reached almost 486,000. In 1969, the first U.S. forces were withdrawn from Vietnam, and by 1974 all U.S. presence was withdrawn. The M16 (still named AR-15 at the time, since it wasn’t officially military issue) got its first taste of combat action…

No Two Scopes Are The Same

A good hunting scope should probably cost more than your hunting rifle. Sounds ridiculous? Perhaps. But, those who have been out there, in all kinds of conditions and situations, know that there is no replacement for a quality hunting scope. I found great info on scopes on a the gun blog Gunivore.com here. There are so many of those available, it is very difficult to know which one to go for. Luckily, unlike in SO many other businesses, the price of a scope can be a pretty good estimate of its abilities. For that reason, I started this post off by saying that it should probably coat more. If not more, than about the same as the rifle itself. Why? Because when the chips are down and you have your prize between your crosshairs, you need to make sure that those crosshairs are actually accurate and that they can help…

Baby’s Got My Glock

SightsandInsights.com was created for the gun enthusiasts. The Glock 26 is known as the Baby Glock, because of its small size and concealable nature. When Glock released this firearm in the middle of the 90’s, it was received with a lot of justified enthusiasm. A subcompact in 9mm? It sounds really good. A powerful caliber in a tiny gun is up many people’s allies. Is it actually good? In a word – yes. Yes, it is. The Glock 26 9mm firearm incorporates pretty much everything that has made Glock such a favorite among civilians, military, and law-enforcement personnel. The build is steel and polymer-2, just like its older brothers (the full-sized Glock 17, and compact Glock 19). The sights are good, and they allow for quick target acquisition. Although, some night sights could also be a welcome idea if you are carrying at night. The Glock 26 was one of…
