History

People are always talking about climbing the corporate ladder, but this idea is heavily misunderstood. Jim Rohn said that you should focus on building your dreams, or else somebody will hire you to build theirs. “And guess what they have planned for you”, he’d say. “Not much”, that’s what. So you need to take care of yourself. But we get carried away, and by “we” I mean the middle class. We have no knowledge, and so we have no power. We let others run our lives. Sure, we may be independent in some ways, but more often than not, it is merely the illusion of independence. This is a harsh truth, but it needs to be said over and over. We are thick-skulled people, and it takes a message a long time to seep through sometimes. To each his own time and place. I decided a long time ago to…

Costa Rica And Best Friends

My best friend travels six months of the year to Costa Rica. She speaks fluent Spanish. I met her many moons ago when I was sitting with other friends having coffee and I heard her talking about Costa Rica behind me. I started talking to her and it was Best Friend at First Sight. We have been joined at the hip (when she is in the country that is!). We can talk about everything and anything but/and we really connect on the Costa Rica thing! She has been going on and on and on about me coming out to Costa Rica for years! She works with Turtles! It’s so cool! Every-time she talks about it, I want to jump into her suitcase. It’s funny because we both have travel in common and we some-how sync up! I have been to so many places but one of the places I haven’t…

Head And Shoulders Ingredients

By now, we are all more aware of the harsh and potentially-harmful ingredients which some companies put in their hair care products. We are all faced with a decision: do we go with it, or do we try to find an alternative? When it comes to Head & Shoulders, there is an issue. On the one hand, when you use it daily, there is a lot less noticeable dandruff. But on the other hand, do you know how this is achieved? A daily shampoo’s primary function is to effectively replace the formula which your scalp and hair create on their own, and implement the shampoo’s formula. Now, in some cases the natural secretion of sebum and the levels of pH are both out of balance, which is what causes the dandruff to begin with. But it is only a symptomatic solution. The truth is, there is no cure for dandruff,…

The M16 And Vietnam

The M16 is known as the Vietnam gun, and for good reason. Vietnam remains one of the most controversial wars in the history of the United States. What started as an inner conflict between the South and North Vietnamese gradually turned into a full-scale war. American military aid was first given at 1950. That turned into military advisors, which were sent in 1955. Marines and Special Forces were dispatched a little bit later, to aid the South Vietnamese in their training process. The numbers of advisors swelled to many thousands. Air strikes began to take place in 1965, and by 1967 the number of U.S. soldiers in Vietnam reached almost 486,000. In 1969, the first U.S. forces were withdrawn from Vietnam, and by 1974 all U.S. presence was withdrawn. The M16 (still named AR-15 at the time, since it wasn’t officially military issue) got its first taste of combat action…

Why You Should Use Argan Oil Shampoo

There are two types of people, those that use argan oil shampoo(Maple Holistics), and those that don’t. Although, to be completely and absolutely fair, this is not the only way to split people into two groups, but it definitely would make people fall into two groups. I mean, it isn’t supposed to be the definitive divider either, I just thought that it would sound cool to say, so I said it. This is what my passion for argan oil shampoo has driven me to do. Truly I am like a man possessed (possessed of great wit and a lot of passion that is). No, but all jokes aside, there is a criminal lack of people that use argan oil shampoo, which is really only their loss, but it is a loss that they  have to shoulder and as such I do not want them to shoulder that burden. Shouldering the…

Invigorating Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil is one of the most popular essential oils in existence, and it is even used by people who are not at all into alternative medicine or holistic methods of healing. It is known for its invigorating properties, and it is one of the best smelling types of mint out there. I love falling asleep to the scent of peppermint incense or oil slowly burning. Incidentally, my least favorite is vanilla. I just don’t get it. I don’t even care for it in its ice-creamed form. Alright, forget about that, back to peppermint. This plant can do most anything. It will help with gastro-related issues, with breastfeeding, with headaches, stress, muscle and joint pains, and even respiratory conditions like congestion and asthma. Like I said – anything. Peppermint is best in essential oil form It comes in the form of essential oil, and I think this is where it…

Natural products are the way to go!

The one major thing I learned from my illustrious 3-week career of being a shampoo girl at the local hair salon was: dig into that scalp. When you put in shampoo or conditioner, don’t just rub it into the hair. Get deep into that scalp, and let that stuff sit there for at least two whole minutes. There was never a time when I felt like what I was using in my hair wasn’t good. A change happened, after my friend showed me the back of the bottle that I was using. He was a chemistry major, and he began to explain to me a little bit about the different ingredients that were in my shampoo. I came out of that little session thinking something like: wow, the FDA will approve anything if you pressure them enough. Now, that isn’t true, but I really could not believe some of the…

No Two Scopes Are The Same

A good hunting scope should probably cost more than your hunting rifle. Sounds ridiculous? Perhaps. But, those who have been out there, in all kinds of conditions and situations, know that there is no replacement for a quality hunting scope. I found great info on scopes on a the gun blog Gunivore.com here. There are so many of those available, it is very difficult to know which one to go for. Luckily, unlike in SO many other businesses, the price of a scope can be a pretty good estimate of its abilities. For that reason, I started this post off by saying that it should probably coat more. If not more, than about the same as the rifle itself. Why? Because when the chips are down and you have your prize between your crosshairs, you need to make sure that those crosshairs are actually accurate and that they can help…

Baby’s Got My Glock

SightsandInsights.com was created for the gun enthusiasts. The Glock 26 is known as the Baby Glock, because of its small size and concealable nature. When Glock released this firearm in the middle of the 90’s, it was received with a lot of justified enthusiasm. A subcompact in 9mm? It sounds really good. A powerful caliber in a tiny gun is up many people’s allies. Is it actually good? In a word – yes. Yes, it is. The Glock 26 9mm firearm incorporates pretty much everything that has made Glock such a favorite among civilians, military, and law-enforcement personnel. The build is steel and polymer-2, just like its older brothers (the full-sized Glock 17, and compact Glock 19). The sights are good, and they allow for quick target acquisition. Although, some night sights could also be a welcome idea if you are carrying at night. The Glock 26 was one of…
